Sometimes the best sessions happen when you least expect them. I was in New York City for a creative workshop in April, and despite the surprisingly cold weather that week, I couldn’t resist reaching out to my past clients Allie and Ryan when I found out they were living in Brooklyn. It had been over a year since they made the move to NYC, and they were absolutely loving city life! I have had a vision for a super laid-back Brooklyn couple’s session ever since I heard they were moving east!

From Manhattan to Brooklyn

I hopped on the subway from Manhattan to Brooklyn – there’s something so quintessentially New York about that journey – and met up with Allie and Ryan at their apartment near Prospect Park. They were fresh from work and ready to grab some pizza. And of course, they brought along their two adorable companions: Mila, their gentle Bernese Mountain Dog, and Ralph, their golden retriever with the goofiest personality.

Spring Blooms

Even though it was freezing, Brooklyn was putting on quite the show. The cherry blossoms and magnolia trees were in full bloom, creating the most dreamy backdrop against the historic brownstone architecture. There’s something magical about spring in New York – even when you’re shivering, the beauty of the season breaking through makes it all worth it.

Pizza, Pups, and Prospect Park

What started as a casual catch-up quickly turned into the most perfectly authentic couple’s session. We grabbed pizza (because when in New York, right?), wandered through their neighborhood with Mila and Ralph leading the way, and ended up in Prospect Park as the golden hour light filtered through the bare branches and blooming trees.

The Perfect Brooklyn Love Story

Watching Allie and Ryan navigate the city with their dogs, sharing pizza on a park bench, and just being completely themselves reminded me why I love what I do. This wasn’t a posed session – it was real life, real love, and the genuine joy of a couple who found their perfect place in the world for now.
