In February 2020, Chris and I boarded our last flight of the year. We flew to photograph a magical desert wedding in Sedona Arizona I had been so excited about for months. Alanna and Michael had gotten engaged in November 2019 and immediately asked if I could photograph their wedding a couple months later. Absolutely!
We rented a car and drove to Sedona. Chris and I were mesmerized. The red rock mountains were magnificent and truly a sight to behold. There’s an energy about Sedona and Arizona in general that you just don’t see in California. We spent the day hiking and exploring the town. Afterwards, we did a site walk-through with Alanna and Michael before their rehearsal. Then Chris and I grabbed some dinner and headed back to our hotel to crash for the night.
The wedding day was perfect. The girls and guys got ready at separate houses and then we drove through the town of Sedona to the Sedona Heritage Museum for the ceremony. Once the ceremony was over, we drove over to a local hiking spot to take some portraits on Alanna and Michael’s favorite trails. They’re avid hikers and wanted to be photographed in the beauty of Sedona.
We hiked among the red rocks for 30 minutes or so and then drove to the reception at Agave of Sedona. Their guests mingled and ate snacks while Alanna and Michael freshened up. The rest of the evening was filled with laughter, dancing, and delicious food. Everything a wedding reception should be and more.
