Becky and Gary’s Healdsburg Wedding at Dutcher Crossing Private Estate was supposed to be filled with warmth and light and hot September breezes. Sadly, we were surprised to get a day FULL of rain. As sad as it was, we made the absolute BEST out of the situation. We had a great time running around the property in between spurts of dry skies (they were limited though!)
Getting Wedding Ready on the Estate
The girls were slated to get ready in the upstairs of the garage. It was dark and moody and the music was PUMPING. The guys got ready off-site, but when they arrived, they were ready to party. We were forced to take bridal party photos under the overhang because the rain just WOULDN’T let up. We thankfully got a break in the rain for some family photos and squeezed some of Becky and Gary’s portraits in. Overall, I am so excited to share this day with you – it really goes to show that no matter what the weather is on your day, you can make it work and make it BEAUTIFUL.
Making Friends with Rain
I know rain on your wedding day can feel daunting, but I hope these photographs give you hope that it can also be absolutely stunning. Choosing a big clear tent and creating thoughtful details throughout the space can help elevate your and your guest’s experience. What I’m trying to say is, don’t shy away from the rain. It can offer a gentle peacefulness on your day that you didn’t expect.
